The Stonewall Democrats endorsed City Council candidate Francisco Moya over Julissa Ferreras last night. The two are vying to replace Hiram Monserrate, who is now in the State Senate.

The club vote, according to one person there, was 23 to 4.

Stonewall is based in Manhattan, but has an interest in the race, since this district includes a sizable gay and lesbian population.

Also, there are some tributary political lines connecting the two areas. Moya is being supported by Alfonso Quiroz, a City Council candidate in a neighboring district who is also a member of Stonewall. Quiroz’s opponent in that race is Danny Dromm, a well-respected Democratic district leader that has endorsed Ferreras.
